My Story
Having lived undiagnosed for thirty years in my eating disorder, from the age of 8 to 38, including binge eating disorder, anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive exercise, I have lived in recovery for the past eight years.
As a mom, Arizona Certified Teacher and Body Positive Fitness Coach, my focus has centered on self acceptance, gratitude for movement, and inclusivity of all bodies. With a heart of an educator, I have traveled nationwide to share my recovery story; change in relationship with food, with others, and most importantly, with myself. My story has reached others through social media, online through television advertising and in print, including People Magazine. |
Advocacy work has included travel and public presentation throughout the nation, with return trips to Washington DC to lobby Congress on access to eating disorder treatment. Locally, presentations are shared with students and adults, spreading education and awareness on a number of self care topics.
Having been told I would, "Never teach group fitness again, it's like an alcoholic working on a bar," I have learned to incorporate recovery through fitness, celebrating space for all bodies, fitness levels and interests, in what I call, Recovered Fitness. |
